About the ALS Tutoring Program
- Individual and small group sessions conducted in schools, public facilities, and in-home
- Students grades( K-12) in math and language arts
- Approved to provide Supplemental Educational Services in the state of Texas through the No Child Left Behind act of 2001
- Tutoring sessions are held after school and weekends
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group tutoring to youths in school, public facilities and in home settings
- Generate weekly progress reports for both parents and teachers
- Participate in training the tutor and knowledge dump sessions as needed
- Complete all pertinent paperwork as required by school district(s) and state for tutoring services in a timely manner
- Enter tutoring session information online promptly after session is completed
- Be prompt and prepared in attending all scheduled sessions
- Provide weekly updates and feedback to project coordinator
- Keep in regular contact with parents/guardians in order to keep a consistent tutoring schedule
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of (15) semester units, or equivalent, with core requirements (Math, Language Arts) completed with a minimum 2.5 GPA (a transcript copy will be required).
- Previous experience tutoring or working with youth preferred
- Able to provide positive role model for youth and capable of relating to youth.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and check in with supervisor
- Must have own transportation, valid driver’s license, willingness to travel to tutoring locations
- Must have easy access to a computer and the internet
- Employment is contingent on passing a Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check and obtaining a passing Tuberculosis (TB) Test
