We Need Tutors

ALS is always looking for highly motivated individuals interested in reaching back and helping educate the future decision makers of tomorrow! About the ALS Tutoring Program

  • Individual and small group sessions conducted in schools, public facilities, and in-home
  • Students grades( K-12) in math and language arts
  • Approved to provide Supplemental Educational Services in the state of Texas through the No Child Left Behind act of 2001
  • Tutoring sessions are held after school and weekends

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group tutoring to youths in school, public facilities and in home settings
  • Generate weekly progress reports for both parents and teachers
  • Participate in training the tutor and knowledge dump sessions as needed
  • Complete all pertinent paperwork as required by school district(s) and state for tutoring services in a timely manner
  • Enter tutoring session information online promptly after session is completed
  • Be prompt and prepared in attending all scheduled sessions
  • Provide weekly updates and feedback to project coordinator
  • Keep in regular contact with parents/guardians in order to keep a consistent tutoring schedule

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of (15) semester units, or equivalent, with core requirements (Math, Language Arts) completed with a minimum 2.5 GPA (a transcript copy will be required).
  • Previous experience tutoring or working with youth preferred
  • Able to provide positive role model for youth and capable of relating to youth.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and check in with supervisor
  • Must have own transportation, valid driver’s license, willingness to travel to tutoring locations
  • Must have easy access to a computer and the internet
  • Employment is contingent on passing a Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check and obtaining a passing Tuberculosis (TB) Test
